Neuropathologist/Surgical Pathologist
HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA (USA). Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State University College of Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained neuropathologist, non-tenure track, clinician-educator or clinician-scientist, open rank, for a start date of July 2024 or possibly earlier. We are a growing subspecialty practice with annual combined surgical pathology volume of approximately 45,000 cases, and an active autopsy pathology service, at the quaternary care academic hub: the Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Cancer Institute and Penn State Children’s Hospital. Penn State Health is a multi-hospital system that additionally includes 4 separately staffed regional community hospitals. The neuropathology service includes neuro-oncology, muscle and nerve biopsies and autopsy neuropathology. Independent or collaborative research in neurodegenerative disease and/or neuro-oncology is encouraged. Additionally, candidates without active research programs are expected to participate in cytopathology or surgical pathology subspecialties. The successful candidate will practice at Hershey Medical Center.
The successful candidate will join a strong, collegial department of 42 faculty in Anatomic, Clinical and Experimental Pathology, with a new section of Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics forthcoming. The department is in an exciting growth phase and has a fully accredited residency program of 16 positions and 4 accredited fellowships. Faculty participate actively, with several leadership roles, in undergraduate and graduate medical education and graduate school teaching. The COM enrolls 150 students per class and boasts an innovative curriculum. Support for collaborative and independent research, including intramural funding, professional development programs, and faculty mentoring is available. Board-certification or eligibility in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania are required for the position. The position does not offer J1 waiver or H1B sponsorship.
